UIU became the Runners-Up in the National IT Debate Championship, Dhaka (North Zone)

The National IT Debate Championship, Dhaka (North Zone) was held in UIU auditorium on the 14th of May, 2016. BUET became the champion and UIU secured the second position. The final topic of the debate competition was ‘Information Technology should get the deserving importance in the upcoming budget’. The members of the champion team are Mirazul Islam, Ahmed Rashik Fayaz Bitto and Touhidur Rahman Turag from BUET. The members of the second runner team are Ashik Chowdhury, Shubhodeep Das and Raisa Tabassum from UIU. UIU’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. M. Rezwan Khan was the chief guest of the event. He mentioned “Today’s competition is related to IT. The current time is all about IT. IT has helped to diminish the communication barrier amongst the whole country. The world is in the grip of our hands and IT will work as our shield. The current generation will make the full use of IT wisely”.  His aspiring words truly lifted up the spirits of the participants. The Policy Analyst of CRI, Mr. Shah Ali Forhad was present there as the special guest. This was a full-day event. There were teams from Bangladesh University of Science and Technology (BUET), Dhaka Medical College, Department of Home Economics from Dhaka University, Joggonath University, United International University, Stamford University, Eastern University and Dhaka College. This program has been organized by the ICT division of Bangladesh Government, Bangladesh Debate Federation and Campus to Career. The supporting organizer was CRI. the organizing partners were techshohor.com, Ekkator tv, MONASH University, Oxfam Practical Action and Dhaka University IT Society (DUITS).  UIU Debating Club was present as the regional partner.
